Jermaine Paul Crowned On ‘The Voice’ Finale

Universal Records added a new artist to their roster Tuesday night (May 8) when Jermaine Paul of Team Blake was named season-two champ during the finale of "The Voice," which also featured some major star power appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber and Flo Rida.

"I just wanted to say thank you for everyone that voted for me," the former Alicia Keys backup singer said on the sparkler-filled stage, before giving credit to his wife, children and parents. "God bless y'all, man. Nobody but Jesus, man, nobody!"

It was a close call, as host Carson Daly revealed just moments before the announcement that only a mere 4 percentage points separated Paul and runner-up Juliet Simms.

Kicking off the two-hour episode was a brief contestant introduction with Paul, Simms, singer/songwriter Tony Lucca and classically trained Chris Mann, before segueing into a recap of the previous night's live final round and some thoughts from each of the judges about their contestant.

But it wouldn't be a big ol' finale without some collaborative performances from our season's favorite former contestants, so Paul rallied up Jamar Rogers, James Massone and Pip to lead the pack on a cover of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." It was a solid effort that most importantly proved why Paul stands as the last remaining singer of the bunch and won the contest.

After a montage of silly bloopers from the panel (proving that Xtina is surely more than just full of sass) and a quick commercial break, Simms of Team Cee Lo joined Flo Rida for a medley of his singles "Whistle" and "Wild One." Missing in action was singer Sia, but Simms took over for the Australian crooner's chorus, temporarily walked away from her rock element and jumped to some fist-pumping Top 40.

Team Xtina's Chris Mann brought back his lady favorites Lindsey Pavao and Katrina Parker for an appropriate cover of the Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony," and the couple complemented Mann's lively onstage urgency.

It may have been an intense evening for the contestants, but "The Voice" kept the show lighthearted by dedicating an entire segment to Shelton and Levine's on-camera bromance with highlights of their cutesy interactions. "It is clear that Adam has a crush on me, and Miranda is a little bit jealous, but I think it's cute," Shelton joked about wife Miranda Lambert.

Hall & Oates were up next to sing their classic "Rich Girl" alongside the men of the evening: Tony, Jermaine and Chris. As the duo jammed out to their 1977 hit, the trio of finalists crooned on the side as background vocalists to the iconic act.

Living out one more performance were former contestants Naia Kete, Cheesa, Kim Yarbrough and Sera Hill with a performance of "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder. Full of energy, attitude and smiles, the quartet blended their distinctive voices for a great number. But it wasn't enough to outshine Juliet Simms' group performance alongside Erin Willett, RaeLynn and Jamar Rogers for a cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends." It was the best of the all-star performances and brought all the judges to their feet for standing ovations.

NBC doubled up when they brought some buzz for the season finale of "Parks and Recreation" as Cee Lo took to the set of the comedy sitcom and had the cast cater to his guest appearance and, of course, the famed swivel chair.

Lady Antebellum repped for country music when they appeared for a performance of "Wanted You More," but the biggest rumble of cheers went to Justin Bieber, who served up a flashy debut performance of his hit "Boyfriend." As teased a few weeks ago, the teen superstar took the stage for an elaborate production of his lead single. Entering through the floor, the pop singer walked down an alley of bright lights and spent much of the number as the center of attention for a crew of dancers with misty smoke seeping in between his choreography.

Before the Biebster took center stage, Team Adam's Tony Lucca re-emerged for his main number of the night with Jordis Unga to sing Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way." It was a friendly throwback to the competition's battle rounds, as the two played off each other's lines and catered to different parts of the stage before joining together for an ending hug.

What did you think of Jermaine winning "The Voice"? Let us know in the comments!

Justin Bieber will show off an even swaggier side of himself tonight when he premieres his “Boyfriend” video on MTV. Before the premiere, Bieber gave fans a sneak peek of the sunny party clip.

The teaser features Bieber snuggling with a very pretty young lady, surrounded by muscle cars and his pals. It was that straightforward concept that intrigued the pop star and his team.

“It was just cars and the simplicity that they liked. Cars, girls, just young people hanging out, having fun, that kind of thing. When I heard it, I thought that’s what it should be,” Director X, who helmed the clip, told MTV News. “From what they wanted to do with Justin and the song and who he is and his age now, I thought that was it. They should expect the Justin they know, just a little more grown-up.”

While he had never worked with the singer before, he admits that, like everyone else in the world, he was fully aware of who Bieber is. “I’ve seen him. I mean, he’s Justin Bieber. There’s no way you don’t know who the kid is, but I’ve never worked with him before or met him before. So my exposure to him is the way any other TV watcher, Internet watcher would know him,” he said, adding that he left the April video shoot a fan. “He’s a good kid. He comes to work, gets the job done, dedicated to the gig. I mean, I like him.”

Want more behind-the-scenes scoop from Bieber himself? The singer will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway tonight to premiere his “Boyfriend” music video during “MTV First: Justin Bieber” live at 7:50 p.m. ET on MTV. After the video premieres on air, Bieber will chat with Sway for 30 minutes on MTV.com, opening up about the clip as well as his June 19 album release, Believe. But that’s not all: If you have a burning question for Bieber, you can get in on the fun by commenting below or tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskBieber.

Immediately following the premiere, the “Boyfriend” video will be available on MTV.com, so Beliebers can watch it over and over and over again.

Don’t miss the “Boyfriend” video premiere tonight at 7:50 p.m. ET/PT on MTV during “MTV First: Justin Bieber,” followed by a live Q&A with Justin himself on MTV.com!

Michael Jackson Immortal Tour: How They Uphold The Legacy

Posted By: Admin on April 8, 2012 at 11:21 pm

MTV News gets a behind-the-scenes look at the Cirque Du Soleil tribute to the King of Pop.
By Uptin Saiidi

NEWARK — Since its opening, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil has honored the King of Pop through music, dance and acrobatics 117 times. Night after night, artists celebrate the life of the late Michael Jackson, but how do they take his iconic legacy and put it into a production? When the tour came to New York City this week, MTV News went behind the scenes to talk with the creative forces and performers to find out.

The artists (all 65 of them) had limited time to train and learn choreography — an especially difficult feat when it's honoring MJ's signature moves. It was a kind of pressure that creative director Tara Young certainly learned to channel into a positive force.

"I think it is a pressure for sure; something I share with the whole building here is that we have nothing to prove, only to share," Young told MTV News. "We have an opportunity to share what Michael would have wanted to share and the pressure is only there to achieve excellence."

For Felix Cane, a two-time world champion pole dancer who does a captivating performance to "Danger," it was all about using that pressure to help the audience to remember the pop icon. "You are sharing this passion with them, and this love of MJ. There's times in the show when some people and I, myself, might have shed a few tears."

That pressure never felt as great as when the Jackson family sat in the front row at a show in Montreal, an experience Young described as "inspiring." When asked what MJ would think if he were sitting there with them, Young smiled, "He would feel such a sense of pride of what he has given us to work with. It evokes emotions in people that they didn't even know were going to come out."

I think everyone feels inspired, which evokes a certain feeling of change," Young added. "You feel a sadness too because he is not with us anymore, and that is an emotion that is wonderful too actually … just to honor him."

The tour will continue in North America through the summer, before heading to Europe this fall.

Have you seen Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour? What did you think? Leave your comment below!

Captain America

Posted By: Admin on March 30, 2012 at 3:21 am

Go see Captain America this weekend! Support our Colin!

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would’ve taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here’s a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

(Sit down, stop jumping around, it’s an awesome picture, I know. And the quality is amazing. It’s not grainy or reddish… it’s perfect.) (No, it’s not.)

(And you can totally see the Captain America logo on the side of the glasses.) (No, you can’t.)

Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT’S FANTASTIC!
